Wonder

I was at Sissinghurst Gardens the other day. I was deeply touched by the sheer wonder of it all. I couldn’t help but think of the link between wonder and compassion, because that’s what I felt too, a wave of compassion for it all. No doubt, wonder and compassion are inextricably linked.

Freedom

A walk on the Common just across from our home.

Calling for freedom, asserting freedom, fighting for freedom. Yet, when endless possibility unfolds, the inevitable retreat into false shelters and fear of the very thing we call for, assert and fight for.

Gifts

I marvel at the way people’s gifts have a life of their own. They have an insatiable desire to be expressed and will persistently call until answered and responded to. Generous pathways into meaningful action and deep fulfilment, will always await those positive responses.

Rescued

My wife rescued this orchard and it has gifted us with this wonderful show. I wonder if flowers feel gratitude?

Beauty

To experience something of beauty is to feel a stirring up of soul and a surrendering of oneself to that beauty. This surrendering is profoundly compelling but easy and natural, like slipping into bed after a hard and grinding day. To yield to beauty is effortless.

Is it possible for all our connections in life to be lived with such ease? Perhaps, if we are capable of seeing the beauty in all things.

Growth

My neighbour gave me a small slip which I planted last Autumn. It has now turned into this. Hard to believe that in that tiny slip, this was waiting to express itself.

There is within things a beautiful urgency to grow and fulfil themselves, and when this growth and fulfilment are authentic, there is beauty. Beauty and authenticity are inextricably linked. When something is authentic you cannot help but be touched by its beauty.
