The Past

Sissinghurst Gardens

I sat in the garden embraced by the evening light, pondering on the day’s experiences. Where does the past go? Does it simply melt away like morning mist in the rising sun, or does it pass into a mysterious, invisible and universal library to be referenced for some great, cosmic recollection; or is it destined to travel endlessly around some karmic circle repeating itself over and over again. I’m not sure, but the one thing I am sure of is that this too will pass.

My name is Don Scrooby and I live in The United Kingdom. I feel that more than anything else, nature, and the objective things around us, convey a speech and a message we always need to listen to and follow. This kind of listening is life-giving and there is a certain form spirituality about it. In this blog, through the the photographic image and accompanying words, I’ve tried to share this experience as simply as I can. There is an underlying beauty in nature we all need to see and experience, especially in this day and age as we struggle to save our planet. Most of my shots are taken with a Fujifilm XT100 camera and my Iphone. I’m no professional Photographer, but I do enjoy outdoor walks with my simple gear trying to capture what I see and experience.

  1. Don, I read this article this morning and thought of you. A quote from it that I wrote down was “The rebirth of former ‘selves’ happens all the time, moment by moment, day by day, year by year and these rebirths become quite obvious if we pay attention to them.” What the writer failed to include in the article was a practice for noticing rebirths. But I did have to ponder what my former ‘selves’ might be. And I thought of this wonderful post from a few days ago. Peace.

    1. Thank you for this, LuAnne. So appreciate the thought. So much to explore in those words. I wonder what we would find if we sharpened our consciousness of those little rebirths in our lives?
