A Landscape

Standing in front of Chartwell, Winston Churchill’s home, and looking across the Kent landscape towards the Southern coastal region of England. One of those moments where I was once again overwhelmed by the beauty and expansiveness of the scene before me. I was reminded of the words of Carl Sagan: “For small creatures such as we the vastness is bearable only through love.”

My name is Don Scrooby and I live in The United Kingdom. I feel that more than anything else, nature, and the objective things around us, convey a speech and a message we always need to listen to and follow. This kind of listening is life-giving and there is a certain form spirituality about it. In this blog, through the the photographic image and accompanying words, I’ve tried to share this experience as simply as I can. There is an underlying beauty in nature we all need to see and experience, especially in this day and age as we struggle to save our planet. Most of my shots are taken with a Fujifilm XT100 camera and my Iphone. I’m no professional Photographer, but I do enjoy outdoor walks with my simple gear trying to capture what I see and experience.

  1. A great shot of the landscape, cloud cover and light. Every time I see a photo like this I’m reminded of what a wonderful world we live in and how beautiful nature can be if we take the time to truly see and appreciate what Mother Nature has given us 🙂

  2. What a great quote and scene. “The vastness is bearable only through love.” Huge Sagan fan, he lived and taught here in Ithaca. His daughter now owns his former house, built on the side of a cliff with an observatory where the roof opens up.

    1. That’s wonderful Thomas. Thank you for sharing that. What a privilege it must be to live in a place where his presence was and still is, I’m sure, gracing Ithaca. He was a wonderful human being.

  3. I have been contemplating how I could build a wall around my property without having to hire a contractor

goodness, that wall in this pic is a great one!

    great photo, as always
