Passed this lichen on my walk yesterday.

I’ve always been a great admirer of the poetry and writings of Mary Oliver. The other day I was going through some notes of mine and came across these words of hers – deeply touching. Sadly, she died in January 2019.
“When it’s over, I want to say: all my life I was a bride married to amazement. I was the bridegroom, taking the world into my arms.”
She lived these words.
That is beautiful.

After our time in England, I’m forever on the look out for beautiful lichen and one can never go wrong reading Mary Oliver’s lovely words.

Not sure which I enjoyed more – the shots of lichen or finding out about Mary Oliver. I will have to track down one of her books of poetry. Anyone who suffers the criticism ‘that she was criticized for writing poetry that assumes a dangerously close relationship between women and nature ‘ sounds like a writer worth reading. Thanks Don

Thanks John. You’re right. She was an amazing woman and her relationship with and perceptions of nature were profound. She certainly is worth reading.

I so enjoy the textures in this photo, Don. Mary Oliver was one of my favorite poets. She did live those words and so embraced this world we live in. I miss her.
