New Year Resolutions

Last night I was watching the firework displays in the different cities around the world and couldn’t help but think of those resolutions we’re so prone to make at this time. I have to confess, that for me, they’re a bit like fireworks – brief and beautiful illuminations, then, gone as quickly as they appeared. I don’t make them anymore. Call me cynical, but that’s just the way I feel nowadays. Having said that, I do enter this new year with positivity and hope and wish the same for you.

  1. I love this analogy between fireworks and resolutions. I don’t do resolutions anymore, either, at least not New Year’s resolutions. So glad you are facing the new year with positivity and hope – your posts certainly express that and I thank you for these posts. Thank you also for your kind wish. I will try to do the same. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Yes, Dan. I feel that way too. I think the secret is in that steady continuing basis you speak of. It’s not jerky and inconsistent, just a steady consistent and resolute walk through life. Thanks for sharing.

  2. For the first time in about 25 years I actually DID make a New Year resolution. I normally don’t believe in them.

I vowed to find some way to get outdoors more, painful as it may be to walk. The trouble with this resolution is that my view from my desk each morning (and I get up late as I go to bed late) is………….the view is so beautiful some mornings that it takes my breathe away and I can’t bear to miss each bird visiting my garden. Sounds crazy I know. In the hot afternoons as the sun moves over my apartment building, it’s too hot, but in the mornings…………….

    • Thank you for sharing this Vicki. I hope your need to find ways to get outdoors more will materialize for you. I suppose it’s both, the view you have and the need to get out more. I’m sure you will balance this in ways that will suit you.
