Transmission Agency Offices – London
WHITEPAPER designed a light and open office space for the Transmission Agency offices in London, England.
Transmission Agency is a global B2B marketing agency, with more than 300 employees worldwide. Following the pandemic, the company was looking to establish a new London headquarters to draw the expanded team back to the workplace. The overall concept was to create a space that felt like home, to be a place to collaborate and socialise while providing the facilities they need to work.
The agency took a floor at The Clove Building, a stone’s throw from Tower Bridge in Aldgate. Their previous office had spanned floors, but here they were seeking to bring everyone together. They also wanted to provide space to suit different working styles, rather than filling the space with desks.
The final layout delivered desk spaces, as well as a coffee bar and lounge areas. High desks are combined with traditional desks to give people options and places for informal meetings. An agile breakout space is close in concept to a family-style kitchen, providing a large enough area to use for social events.
Transmission’s leadership team was keen to include a space large enough to hold town-hall meetings. Rather than install benches that would rarely be used, the designers carefully considered how to provide a space where the agency could gather everyone together, but that could be adapted for company events.
Design inspiration for Transmission’s new office was taken from the location, right in the heart of Bermondsey’s Butler’s Wharf. The area’s industrial heritage presented opportunities to use exposed concrete and beams, as well as large aluminium-framed windows.
Transmission was keen for the space to evoke the atmosphere of members’ clubs, so the designer included statements pieces such as vintage sideboards and a mustard chesterfield in the reception area. Coupled with a long timber desk and other hand-picked accessories, the overall feel is eclectic and inspiring.
As Transmission is a global agency, it was important to install a high level of technology. As well as reliable connectivity, acoustics were considered to ensure that holding video meetings would be a smooth experience.
Overall, the interior took eight weeks to fit out and the design was completed on time and to budget.
