Diageo Offices – Athens
Located on the 2nd floor of “The Orbit” building, one of the most iconic buildings in Athens and one of the first truly green office collections in Greece, Diageo’s new office has been designed as a contemporary space aiming to embody the company’s purpose of “celebrating life, every day, everywhere.”
A&M Architects used a warm blue throughout the Diageo offices to create a welcoming space in Athens, Greece.
Mainly organized on open plan area with suggested “neighborhoods” for teams, but no assigned seating, the design intent has been conceived to promote flexibility and collaboration. With the workplace strategy opting for agile and modern ways of working to define the company’s core values, employees can now choose between a wide variety of working set ups, some intended for more focused and private work, while others promoting socializing and connectivity.
The concept breaks onto three distinctive areas, divided according to their function and different brand influences.
Upon entering the office, the first area makes its appearance, welcoming the company’s employees and visitors with an actual authentic bar inspired by Johnnie Walker, the renowned Diageo whiskey brand. A truly social space, that features a dynamic ‘boomerang’ shape bar inspired by whiskey’s distillery tradition and ingredients. Using rich, smooth materials and textures, a brave, warm atmosphere is created with striking notes of gold and blue hues, that artfully come together in an eclectic finesse.
Influenced by another Diageo brand, “Don Julio”, the second area operates as a dedicated working zone. The open plan features bright, colorful, and immersive spaces that engage the employees to the Mexican heritage of tequila, while a laidback and playful element can be found across various decorative items, statement lighting and the acoustic panels that remind the Mexican patterns.
Green velvet upholstery, dark-painted walls, earthy walnut hues, and a checkered flooring comprise a sulky backdrop for the sophisticated and glamorous meeting room that can be altered to transform its layout depending on the needs. The third area is a multifunction room, inspired by the premium Tanqueray gin and its London heritage.
To create a spatial experience that feels free, inclusive, and modern, the design adapted implementing the energy of DIAGEO’s most iconic brands into a mood-board, not just because of their inherent culture and history but mostly for their aligned principles with the company’s core values.
