Tax Management New Zealand Offices – Auckland
Wingate Architects created dynamic space for a variety of work at the Tax Management New Zealand offices in Auckland, New Zealand.
This project was the culmination of a journey that Tax Management New Zealand (TMNZ) and its philanthropic partner the Whakatupu Aotearoa Foundation began when they decided to look for a new Auckland location in mid 2021. From the start both parties were keen to do things differently and place a strong emphasis on sustainability and create a new workplace that ensured people and the environment were at the heart of the new workplace design. The result is an eco friendly space on Level 5, 23 Custom St in Auckland that is a testament to the passion and ambition to build a more sustainable future for Aotearoa.
With a strong brief to create a human centred, technology enabled workplace where people want to come to work and a space that is enjoyed by Clients, Charities and visitors, the result evokes a welcoming vibe and provides a place to celebrate the TMNZ/Whakatupu Aotearoa teams mahi.
Materials used throughout the fitout were selected with sustainability in mind as all stakeholders played their part to reduce the environmental footprint of the space. Use of recycled products throughout was a key priority including the use of carpet made from recycled drinking bottles, sustainably sourced matai joinery and panels and recycled rimu tables.
Collaborative spaces and the use of new technologies enable all staff to work together and with their customers & partners regardless of where they are in New Zealand. Technology including whiteboard cameras, immersive collaboration spaces and fully cable-free working now allow the organisation to be more connected than ever, reducing the need for unnecessary travel and provides a seamless employee experience.
TMNZ and the Whakatupu Aotearoa Foundation have a shared vision of a “restored and thriving Aotearoa” Their new workspace allows both organisations to come together in an open, inviting environment — one that has been designed to limit the impact on future generations.
