Holland & Knight Offices – Bogotá
AEI Arquitectura e Interiores has developed the offices of global law firm Holland & Knight located in Bogotá, Colombia.
Our inspiration and concept was understood by “nature as a working space”, where we combined timeless and natural finishes such as concrete, wood, glass and carpet on each space in the office. The project´s look & feel showed a perfect combination between cold and warm finishes with natural and artificial lighting as the contrast focus.
Inspired on the woods as the entrance to a new natural space, the reception has marble, wood and wallpaper, contrasted with indirect lighting. It´s the beginning of the experience, where the clients can stay at the waiting area and watch the sculptural division motivated on the trees.
During the design process we noticed that employees lacked space for private conversation and collaboration amongst teams; the design team then outfitted each zone with a series of spaces for collaboration ranging from small meeting areas for 1-3 employees, a private closed library for their investigation process, to larger, 8 person tiered teleconferencing spaces for collaboration amongst offices across the world, to more traditional board rooms for groups of 20, all of these spaces with exterior view and natural lighting, based on one of our defined goals, sustainability and comfort.
The interior stair worked not only as the unifying space of the project but also as a meeting point inspired on nature and freedom. Designed under an existing structure this focal area has wooden steps, metallic railing and indirect lighting. Under the double height ceiling people will see a pendant lamp inspired on seagull´s flight.
