Vista Energy Services Offices – Houston
Abel Design Group was tasked with the design of the Vista Energy Services, the natural gas, and electricity supply company, located in Houston, Texas.
Occupying a penthouse floor in the heart of the city, Vista Energy Services, a leading energy provider, requested an open workplace design that echoes the company’s success in the industry, as well as its work hard, play hard mentality. The client also requested that the architect maximize its penthouse view, a core asset of the space.
Through thoughtful space planning, interior massing, and material selection, Abel Design Group met the company’s spatial form and function needs, and created a line of sight to the dramatic skyline view for all employees, whether at their desk, or in the lounge. The architecture team opened the space to three views to the exterior, increasing the natural light available. In addition, strategic use of interior glass partitions allow for visual communications between departments.
Overall, the new design of the space has had a tremendous impact on employee productivity, as well as overall health and wellness. Ergonomics improved through sit/stand desking and monitor arms. A newly designed smoothie bar offers better nutrition. The design also included a bathroom and shower within the office to promote healthy habits such as cycling to work, and lunchtime workouts. To conclude, the design team also facilitated a pet-friendly workplace with a polished concrete floor. A pet-friendly workplace can reduce stress during the day.
