BNZ The Terrace Offices – Wellington
Unispace designed a creative and innovative space for the BNZ The Terrace offices located in Wellington, New Zealand.
Continuing to challenge the status quo, BNZ’s The Terrace combines a leading unified technology experience with a pioneering mix of multifunctional spaces.
Unispace worked closely with the Bank of New Zealand (BNZ) to create this one-of-a-kind digitally enhanced workplace. The aim of The Terrace was to create ‘the ideal digital world’ for the specialist digital, technology, products and portfolio teams through an agile working environment across 10 levels
We partnered with local graffiti artist, Component (Sparrow Phillips) * hyperlink https://component.co.nz/ * to bring the workplace to life through vivid and inspiring street artwork, while visually incorporating Wellington’s unique culture.
The Creative Studio and Digital Hub spaces are new concepts to BNZ. Designed to be a digital accelerator and showcasing the latest in technology, it features an immersive and intuitive unified tech set-up. The Digital Hub can easily be reconfigured from an informal meeting and waiting area, into a flexible space to host workshops or business networking events.
In an area called The Retreat, sleeping/meditation pods provide contemplative respite. Their materiality, palette and acoustic treatment are designed to engage the user’s senses to promote a deep sense of wellbeing.
BNZ also elected to handover the building’s basement carparking to create an additional space for staff. The car parking space was transformed into ‘The Garage’; the building’s playground. Feature TV walls, games tables, a fully functioning bar and cardio space provide an energetic recoup area. Events can be held in this multifunctional space, as well bike parking, e-bike charging and end-of-trip facilities.
BNZ’s The Terrace is the home of creativity and technology in Wellington. The workplace challenges the typical office notion and positions BNZ as a forward thinking, innovative bank through digital integration and with a focus on staff satisfaction.
